Gala Dinner!!

We celebrated the Swedish Chamber of Commerce 10 year anniversary yesterday at a fun filled Black-tie event here in Shanghai! The evening was filled with lots of good food (marinated salmon, phesant and flambe cake), wine and fellow Swedes and the entertainment by Laila Adele (idol in Sweden), DeDe and Jessica Folcker who were all really nice (they said I was the dancing queen which, of course, made me VERY happy to hear :-)!

Black-tie fun!

We got ready earlier today for our black-tie affair celebrating the Swedish Chamber of Commerce 10 year anniversary here in Shanghai by getting our hair and nails done. I loved my hair more than my wedding hair which kind of cracks me up and the fact that I paid 15 bucks for my updo is even more amazing!!

Thanksgiving Dinner in Shanghai!

We celebrated Thankgiving dinner this year at home with the Fix family and our neighbors and friends! We were able to order the US imported Turkey, gravy, stuffing and cranberry sauce from a local chef and it all tasted delicious!! I cooked all the side dishes including mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, rosmary carrots, green bean cassarole and home made pumpkin pie. It all tasted really good and I was happy it turned out great!

Birthday Party Extravaganza!!

Max & his best friend Mitchell celebrated their birthdays in grand style today with their friends from Shanghai!! A rented jumping castle, balloon lady and a great set of cakes a la Percy and Thomas made the day a breeze for both the young and the old!!

Mitch's in town!!!

Max's best friend since early times is in town visiting us with mom Amber and dad Chad all the way from Chicago!! We're having a great time and tomorrow will be the boy's birthday party with 50 guests in tow... oh boy they'll have a good time!

My creative little Artist at home!

Max loves to paint and draw. He's always liked it but now it's something he'll want to do as soon as he comes home! His latest little creation is called Rain Picture and we'll now make it public first time on this site - enjoy!! :-)

Not only the stock exchange....!

We've finally installed clocks at home with the three time zones we call the most; US, Sweden and China! I still have such a hard time figuring out what time it is in Sweden after all these years in the US and finally I got fed up with it and went to IKEA to buy 3 identical clocks to display the time in the the countries I need to know the time in - simple as that!

Sunday Brunch!

Today we spend a lazy Sunday at home with the Olsson family enjoying some tasty Sunday brunch food such as quiche lorraine, bagels with lax and cream cheese and pink pancakes for the kids and a pre-tasting of pumpkin pie before Thanksgiving - consumed with mimosa and red wine!

The kids enjoyed a game of football outside and some DVD while winding down!

Sunday golf at Binhai GC in Shanghai

Today we spent a crisp and sunny Sunday afternoon at our golf club 45 minutes outside of Shanghai where the air is clean(er) and the course was beautiful! We ended up just hitting golf balls and practise with Max who really likes to play!

We were lucky to have a warm November afternoon in Shanghai where the weather's been mostly rainy and foggy with terrible air pollution for the past few weeks. But today the sun finally broke through and we were off to the golf course in a hurry!! And Emmy managed to sleep through the whole event peacefully and quiet in her stroller which was great as the driving range offered no protection for an active 1.5 year old to jump into the tempting water...!

SAS Sabrina 28 years old!

Last Friday we celebrated Sabrina's 28th birthday in the office with some delicious cake from Awefully Chocolate! Happy Birthday Sabrina and hope you'll have a wonderful Birthday on Sunday - many happy wishes to you!

Max birthday!

Max turned 4 today and had a wonderful little party at his school; the Child Academy!

First we woke up in the morning surprising Max with presents and birthday singing! Once at school we had home made birthday cake and fun games and singing activities for Max - lots of fun!!

Historic day - The GREAT 4s......!

In 2004 when Max was born, President Bush was awarded another term in the White House. Filled with happiness over my newborn son, I was also a little sadden that he was born during a year when the US people elected someone I did not politically agree with (this is being nice...).

Today is a much happier day for all of us as Max turns 4 and Barack Obama is heading to the White House as the 44th US President!

Congrats my wonderful son and Congrats Obama!!

Halloween 2008!!

Let me present Ladybug and Batman! Max couldn't be happier this year being dressed up as the big B and Emmy seemed very happy in her too hot and too small Ladybug outfit (sized for 6 months...)!

Max's school had their Halloween party in the morning where we all attended and at night the compound had organized a Trick or Treat event where more than 50 kids participated - so much fun and lots of scarry characters - kids where crying left and right clingling to their parents for comfort...(!) there's nothing like experiencing an American tradition carried out the Chinese way (i.e politically incorrect characters like murderers, chainsaw masacares replicas etc. etc in an all kids event, yeeaaah way to go!!).

Afterwards we enjoyed a relaxing evening at home with friends drinking red wine and talking about our experiences in China for the past year.
