Emmy's blog day!

I talked to my dear mom yesterday for a long time and she mentioned that it was time to get some pictures of sweet Emmy up there on the blog too. So, today is Emmy's blog day and below are some great pictures of Emmy I recently snapped.

While we're on the subject of Emmy, let me just mention that she finally entered something we so eloquently call in Swedish; Trotsaldern! Pretty much the terrible two's - just a few months too early... And it happened nearly overnight. Our sweet little princess who's showed us only patience, love and smiles for her 20 month long life has turned into something we don't have a name for at times (or at least I wouldn't admit to them in public...) and it seems to escalate each day. Tantrums, fits, hitting, whining and screaming are now just a few of those lovely moments we experience on a daily basis with our little Emmy. Luckily she manages to flick her famous smile between the daily escapades so she's safe...at least so far! Let's just say that we're not surprised, we were wondering when this was going to start. She's had a very famous and good teacher and companion for her entire life and his name is Max.

SAS Pandion Dinner and Inauguratinon night!

Last night Magnus & I met up with several other Shanghai based SAS Eurobonus Pandion members at Stiller's Restaurant & Cooking School in Shanghai for an evening of cooking and dining generously offered by SAS to their top customers. We had so much fun cooking at the renowned restaurant under Stefan Stiller's supervision! We were split into 4 teams and cooked Fois Grois, Salmon tartar, Beef Tartar and Lobster burger - paired with some great wines. During our apple carmilization step Magnus accidentally burnt the sugar (in all fairness it took less than 2 seconds to burn it) and Michelin-starred chef Stefan quickly thew out the glaze and ordered us to start over again - ha!

After the cooking class and too many glasses of wine and Champagne later we were seated for a nice 4-course meal which was out of this world delicious. So much food in one evening but oh, so good! Let's just say that i was ok to skip breakfast this morning! I was excited to have been part of planning this event for SAS and the feedback from the customers were thumbs up!

Once we arrived home at 1 AM, Barack Obama's inauguration and swearing in was just about to start. We sat down and witnessed this amazing moment in our history and were left stunned with admiration after his honest, bold and blunt speech! It was a wake-up call for America to seize this moment and as Obama put it, "starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin the work of remaking America.'' Those will be words we will hear over and over again... I loved how he talked directly to the people, to the allias, to the enemies and how he promised a new beginning. It is a remarkable situation and I wonder if we will ever experience another human like him in our lifetime. The expectations of him are way out of wack, but I can't help but beleive that he will pull it off - he will make a difference and something generations after us will talk and read about in their history books. When I saw him last night parts of me wished I had a dual citizenship - to be a proud American after so many years living in the US. It would have felt good last night!

M1NT evening fun!

Last weekend we spent a night out with our friends here in Shanghai at M1NT's new restaurant - good food and fun for sure! Afterwards we tried to get into M on the Bund's big 10 year party (?) but the rules were strics and it was impossible to get in! So we decided to round off the evening at Leffe 18 (which in reality is called something else but the Swedish community seems to know it as Leffe...) and there we met up with Lotta and her gang of people. Always a good time and too late indeed when we got home at 3!

Max playdate with Daniel in Shanghai

Max has a very special friend here in Shanghai whom he really likes to hang out and play with. Daniel also attends Max's class at the Child Academy and they get to play every day. Earlier today we spend the afternoon outdoors with Daniel's great family and the boys were playing hard for a few hours - a great perfect lazy Saturday afternoon in other words.

An unusual dinner at the Park Hyatt....

Soozi and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner at the newly opened 100 Centery Avenue restaurant at the Park Hyatt in Shanghai last night. The restaurant is located in the World Financial Centre on the 91st floor and the building is today (and probably not for very long) the tallest building in the world - crazy tall! After dinner we met up with a friend who works as the General Manager at the hotel and he immediately wanted to show us their unusual dance bar where 2 chinese girls teach customers how to dance samba, waltz, tango etc. etc. Within seconds I was thrown out on the dance floor together with the shorter of the two chinese ladies and didn't know if I was supposed to lead or be lead... but it sure looked funny and Soozi got a chance to snap a few of these nuggets!

Max expanded Thomas collection!

Here's Max & Emmy upstairs in Max train room with his complete set of Thomas trains. He got many new ones for Xmas and loves them very much. Years after he first started playing with Thomas he still loves these wooden trains and can't get enough playing them every day. Thank god for Thomas!

BALI pictures

Bali was nothing short of amazing!! We were fortunate enough to rent a beautiful villa on Le Meridien's golf resort on the Southwest side of Bali (near Tanah Lot temple) were we got spoiled in 11 days straight. We were lucky with the weather during these rainy seasons and had only the occassional rainy afternoon. And Greg Norman's 72-hole course was as beautiful to watch as amazing to play!

We spent our days relaxing and playing by the resort pool, golfing, eatin amazing lunches and dinners, enjoying the athome SPA staff whom always had a prompt 3 pm appt for a few hours of pampering each day - oh, I miss it!

We celebrated New Years at a wonderful french retaurant in Saminyak called Cafe Warisan - I highly recommend it if you're going to Bali - worldclass!
